About me
It started on
the dance floor.
Hi, I'm Jason Colyn, the photographer behind ShweetShot Photo Design. I'm based in Alberton and shoot across Johannesburg and Gauteng.
It all began with my own kids. They danced hip-hop, and I was the dad at every practice and competition with a camera, trying to freeze every spin, jump and landing. Other parents started seeing the photos and asking if I could shoot their kids too.
One competition led to the next. I became the official photographer for hip-hop events like Global Dance Supreme and HHISA, and the families I met on the dance floor started booking me for matric farewells, family portraits and weddings. That's how a proud dad's hobby grew into ShweetShot.
Dance photography taught me what I still bring to every shoot: anticipate the moment, work fast in tricky light, and never miss the shot that only happens once.
